Surgery is inevitable so they say

Well, this past week has come with more news of Jen needing surgery on her spine. In the past 8 months, it seems to have gotten worse by 25 more degrees. She is now at about 75 degrees, and the doctor says it will most likely continue to get worse. We will go back in 4 months, with the plan of surgery being soon after. This will give her some more time to gain weight and stabilize her nutrition too. Jen's seizures have been quieter up until Thursday. Well, here we go again with seizures. Of course another phone call from the bus company coming home Friday afternoon. Jen's seizures seem to be picking up again in numbers and are intense. There has to be a solution, but what?

  1. Gayle,
I am so sorry about her back, kieras is about 45deg, but she has a few curves.
We thought that Kiera would also need surgery one day but now that Kiera is 22 and she is not growing anymore, so her curve should not get any worse, so we got out of surgery.

I sure hope that things will go well over the next few months for jen as far as her wt. and seizures so she is ready for surgery.

  2. Hi, I came across your blog and your adorable red head! I was reading about her scoliosis and hope the surgery goes smoothly for her. We also go to Children's in Boston. Dr. snyder did my Sarah's hip surgery with good results. I am hoping scoliosis surgery is not next.
Anyway, just wanted to say HI!!
